MANAOMAKANI® (pronounced MUH-nuh-OH-muh-kuh-nee) was created in 2008 by native Hawaiian, Jamie Makani Aldaya, to share the beauty of Hawai‘i, authentic Hawaiian philosophy, and most of all, ALOHA through environmentally- and socially-responsible fashion.

After more than 25 years of experience in the fashion industry with influential companies such as Esprit, Mast Industries/Limited Express, Gap, and Blue Marlin, Jamie returned to his native Hawaiian roots to combine his ancestry and experience to create MANAOMAKANI®, a socially-responsible organic cotton clothing collection using eco-friendly production methods in California. It seemed destined as all Hawaiians are taught we do not exist without the land.

Our design process follows authentic Hawaiian philosophy: Ask, do not take. Give what you have. This often requires a trek, a chant, and a prayer which will hopefully result in “approval”, a feeling of calm, and sometimes, other “signs”.
