In 1990, Kumu Mele opened Ke Olu Makani O Mauna Loa with a promise to her Kumu, George Na'ope, to perpetuate the Hawaiian culture and carry on the lineage of her hula tree. With the Halau based in Kilau'ea Volcano, Hawaii and divisions in several areas of Japan. Kumu Meleana now opens her first mainland division, San Francisco. Our mission is to enlighten, encourage, and educate all that seek knowledge through Hula. We welcome all who seek to better understand the Hawaiian culture and arts, be it their own culture or not.
